How to Avoid Scammers on Google Hangouts

Yes, scammers are everywhere on all social media platforms. This is one of the favorite sites scammers use, so be cautious on these platforms. A personal experience with a love scammer who defrauded me of £800,000 serves as an alarming reminder of the dangers that lurk online. Scammers are persistent and often take advantage of their victims over an extended period. It is crucial to stay vigilant and protect yourself from such fraudulent activities.

Recognizing the Scam

The scam isn't specific to Google Hangouts. Scammers like to get you to leave the platform where you initially met them and start chatting on apps like Google Hangouts or WhatsApp. These apps offer end-to-end encryption, which provides a more secure environment for communication. However, this also gives scammers the ability to have frequent and live conversations, making it harder to spot the scam on other platforms like game apps or dating sites.

Scammers will often request money and gift cards after love bombing you, which involves showering you with compliments and false affection to build trust. To protect yourself, only engage with people you have met in person and are familiar with.

Staying Secure

To avoid becoming a victim, you should not easily follow a stranger's request to use Google Hangouts. Always say no when asked to download the app or share your number. Trust your instincts and prioritize your safety. Remember, scams can come from anywhere, and it's not just people from Nigeria. Scammers can be from other countries or even just around the corner.

In my case, I initially met the scammer through Telegram. I agreed to move the conversation to Google Hangouts because I didn't know the scam was happening. However, once I recognized the scam, I immediately blocked the scammer on Google Hangouts and deleted the app. I vowed never to use it again and advised others to do the same if they encounter such a request.

Many women have fallen victim to these scams, and it is crucial to recognize the signs and avoid engaging with these individuals. Block them and never look back. By staying informed and cautious, you can reduce the risk of becoming a scam victim.

By staying alert and following these tips, you can protect yourself and your loved ones from the dangers of social media scams. Always prioritize your safety and be wary of individuals who push for private communication on unfamiliar platforms.
