For many, the most terrifying phone call or text can stay with them for years. In my case, an anonymous phone call during my freshman year in high school stands out as one of the most disturbing experiences I've ever encountered. It wasn't a prank, nor a caller asking a simple question. The call was filled with aggression, fear, and an underlying sense of threat.

I don’t remember the exact words exchanged, but the caller was a female who asked for me by name. She insinuated that I should stay away from someone named 'Chris Edwards.' Her final words before hanging up were, 'You better stay the hell away from him bitch!'

The Stranger's Identity

The terrifying element of the call wasn't just its aggressive content but also the complete stranger it involved. Chris Edwards was a name I recognized, as he was in my Biology I class. However, our interactions were limited: we sat on opposite sides of the room and hardly exchanged more than a polite nod or a casual "hi."
