The Unbreakable Bond: Understanding the Mother-Child Connection

As a mother, you've likely felt a deep and unexplainable connection with your child from the moment they were conceived. This bond is not just a creation of love; it's a natural instinct that even extends beyond the human species.

The Creation Connection

Every parent will tell you that the bond between them and their child is unique. The mother of a child feels a creation of love in a way that is hard to describe. When you are involved in the creation of something, whether it’s a piece of art, a project, or a life, you tend to develop an emotional attachment.

When the parent is engaged in protecting the growing fetus during pregnancy, or counting the kicks, or worrying about the health of their growing child, these actions grow over 40 weeks. This process often results in a deep, intrinsic bond that develops naturally over time.

Bonding Varies in Individuals

However, not everyone experiences this bond the same way. Some mothers bond with one or some of their children and not others. Others easily bond with children who are not their own, while some do not have the same connection. The same holds true for the relationship between a mother and her pet dog. Some dogs, like a German Shepherd, are naturally doting on her litter of puppies, while others may appear indifferent, as was the case with my friend's friend's German Shepherd.

Interestingly, the bond between a mother and child, or even a mother and her puppy, is often attributed to instinct. The mother’s attitude towards the child or puppy plays a significant role in the bond. Those who are more empathetic and kindly put themselves in others' shoes are more likely to form a strong bond. Conversely, a narcissistic parent may struggle to develop a bond, as it must be mutual.

A Secret is Revealed: Love Kindness

For some, the bond begins to evolve in the womb, and the love and connection continue to grow as they navigate the challenges of motherhood. The secret to this bond lies in the presence of love, kindness, empathy, and the ability to understand another person's perspective. Simply put, if a parent can demonstrate these qualities, a deep bond is formed.

Conclusion

If you feel that you do not have this bond with your child or even your pet, it doesn't necessarily mean that you are not a good parent. The key is to practice love, kindness, and empathy. If these qualities are absent from the relationship, the bond may not develop, and that can be difficult but understandable. Remember, being a parent is a rewarding but complex journey, and the bond that forms is just one aspect of it.

So, if you are a lucky person with this bond, cherish and nurture it. For others, take heart in the knowledge that even without this instinctive bond, you can still be an incredible parent with love and care.
