Uniquely Weird: My Quirky Traits and Superpowers
What is One Weird Quirk About Yourself?
If you dig deep, every person has quirks or unique traits that make them special. My quirks are no different as they set me apart from the crowd. I am not like anyone else, and I have never met someone who knows me as well as I do myself. This is part of what makes me unique.
Driving Oddities
One perhaps peculiar trait of mine is how I drive. My kids often laugh at me when I turn the wheel for a curve or a turn because I lean my head to the left or right. This inclination is so ingrained that it's hard to break. I suspect it may have started when I was young and mimicked this behavior in driving video games at the arcade. Back then, if I was playing a driving game and needed to turn, I would lean my head in the correct direction. It follows that I have carried this behavior over to real-life driving.
Age Isn't a Barrier
Despite my advancing age, I don't let it get me down. Living alone and dealing with various health issues, I remain surprisingly content. I find joy in talking to myself and my cats, and I still manage to make myself laugh. Even during mundane activities like watching commercials, my mind jumps to quirky places, leading to unexpected laughter. I have a knack for making others chuckle, and I embrace my unique quirk.
Resilience Through Quirky Humor
Life has been tough over the past couple of years, but I remain responsible and mature. My often humorous quirk has helped me cope with difficulties. Even without anyone to share my laughter with, I find solace in it. Sometimes, funny thoughts pop into my head, and I laugh out loud, reaffirming my ability to find joy in quirky moments. Although it might feel lonely at times, I believe it's important to enjoy the humor in life even on my own.
My Unique Superpowers
While everyone has quirks, I have a few that seem superpowered. One of these is my ability to identify the silverware drawer in any kitchen. I am virtually infallible at locating it, having been wrong only once, thanks to a friend who switched it up on me. I often wonder why I haven't been invited to join the Superfriends.
Language-less Entertainment
My absolute weirdest quirk, however, is my habit of watching movies and web series in languages I don't understand, without the aid of dubbing or subtitles. This thrill of understanding the story and emotions without the support of dialogue is captivating. My last experience with this was a Malayalam movie called 'Premam,' starring Sai Pallavi and Nivin Pauly. The film was a masterpiece, and I could feel the emotions without the need for translation. It's something I do despite the stares and laughter from friends, and I wonder if others share my love for this kind of entertainment.
Despite the giggles and sometimes misunderstanding, my quirks and superpowers make me who I am. I hope to inspire others to embrace their own quirks and superpowers, and remember that it's okay to be different and unique.
