How are You Controlled by Society?

It is often said that individuals are expected to conform to societal norms, and those who deviate too much are labeled as oddities or lawbreakers. Institutions within society typically seek to regulate behavior through rules and laws that have been established for the greater good. However, the mechanisms of societal control are complex and multi-layered.

Social Control: From Norms to Laws

The regulation of behavior in society is largely achieved through a combination of tradition, custom, written regulations, and laws. These systems are designed to maintain a functional society where members adhere to shared norms and ethical standards. Yet, it is crucial to understand that societal control is not a centralized entity with clear hierarchical structures. Instead, it is an amalgamation of individual members and various groups - whether closed, semi-closed, or open - each with their own behavior codes.

The Complications of Societal Control

While societies aim to maintain order, the actual mechanisms of control are often diffuse and inconsistent. Significant individuals or entities can influence others through their positions and media platforms. This distributed power structure makes it challenging to pinpoint which specific parts of society are responsible for controlling individuals.

Conformity vs. Individualism

Many societies today encourage individualism, fostering a sense of personal freedom and the ability to pursue one's unique path. Yet, this individualistic ethos does not mean that individuals are completely free from societal control. Personal ethics and moral principles often come into play, where individuals may choose to adhere to certain societal norms while rejecting others that conflict with their core beliefs.

My Perspective on Societal Control

I personally do not feel controlled by societal norms. Rather, I often identify as an outsider to mainstream trends and beliefs. My core values and principles drive my actions, regardless of any external pressures. I believe in the truth, no matter the source, and am committed to calling out lies. Although I align more closely with socialist anarchist ideals, I do not affiliate myself with any political parties. My stance is firm against war, the police, and government-controlled monopolies.

Challenging the Status Quo

I have dedicated significant time to researching and critically examining accepted history, finding that much of it is based on selective truths or outright fabrications. This pursuit has led me to consider myself a conspiracy factist. I advocate for the legalization of veganism and the banning of meat slaughterhouses and hunting, believing that this aligns with my values of empathy, compassion, and respect for all living beings.

Conclusion

The relationship between individuals and society is a complex dynamic that involves both conformity and dissent. Understanding the various layers of societal control and how they influence individual behavior is essential for maintaining a balance between personal ethics and societal norms. While I do not consider myself controlled by society, I recognize the importance of reaffirming one's individual values in the face of external pressures.
